Just a reminder that Muscle Powered is down at the 3rd Street Farmers Market every Saturday morning from 9AM – 1PM. Ride down for some fresh, local produce. Shop while we watch your bike! It’s a fun way to support local growers and bicycling in Carson City.

New Bike Rack
Back again due to popular demand, Muscle Powered will be doing a Bicycle Valet at the 3rd Street Farmers Market every Saturday from June 27th until October 3rd, 9 AM – 1 PM. Muscle Powered will have volunteers throughout the summer to park and watch your bike while you roam the market.
Bicycle Valet at the Farmers Market
Ride down to the Farmers Market for fresh, local produce, and mingle with your fellow citizens. It makes a nice destination for an easy Saturday morning ride. In addition to the Farmers Market, Downtown Carson City and local businesses have organized plenty of other activities along Curry Street as well. Exploring the area on bicycle is the best way to check everything out without the hassle of trying to park your car.
Ride your bike to the Farmers Market
Although we have the valet covered, Muscle Powered is still seeking volunteers to help. We need people to double up, so the primary valet has time for a break. Only 1 or 2 hours on a Saturday is what we need! If you’re interested, send me an email (see the contact tab above).
On Saturday, Muscle Powered setup a Bicycle Valet at the Downtown Carson City Farmers Market. The idea was to setup a secure area for visitors to keep their bicycles, and to act as a public outreach for Muscle Powered.
The Muscle Powered Tent
Anne Macquarie, my son Charlie, and I setup our tent and were ready to go by 9:00AM, the opening time of the farmers market. Within a few minutes the first bicycles showed up, and it was pretty apparent they were scoping the place out for a secure parking spot. Luckily we were setup close to the street, and it was easy for me to walk out and greet people before they could lock up.
The Bicycle Corral
Everyone seemed pleasantly surprised to have the bicycle valet service. We weren’t sure how we’d keep track of the bikes, but it turned out to be quite easy. More than half of the people already had bicycle locks, and just locked them up the bike rack we had in the roped-off corral area. This made it easy to remember the remaining people and which bicycle they showed up on. We didn’t have to give out any tickets or write any information down.
Bicycle Swag
After we got the bikes secure, the people would come visit our table where we had Carson City Bicycle Route Maps, brochures, water bottles, pedometers, and other materials. We even got to talk to people about this Wednesday’s Clif Bar 2 Mile Challenge Tour. It was great to meet people face to face, talk about the Muscle Powered mission, and hear people’s ideas, questions, and opinions.
We thought the Bicycle Valet was quite successful, and are looking forward to doing it again. Unfortunately the three of us are all busy this weekend! If nobody else from Muscle Powered volunteers, hopefully we’ll see you the following weekend!

If you have been, you’ve probably noticed a good number of bicycles. They’re everywhere. Across the street, locked to trees, in the bike rack, down the next street… Wouldn’t it be nice to have an easy, secure place to keep your bicycle?
Muscle Powered is working with Tammy Westergard of Downtown Carson City to encourage more bicycle involvement in these downtown events. This Saturday, August 9th, Muscle Powered is going to have a Bicycle Valet setup at the Farmers Market!

We’re still working out the final details, but Muscle Powered is going to setup a secure bike area right next to the market. We’ll be there under our shade structure to watch the bikes, talk to folks about bicycling in Carson, hand out Carson City Bicycle Route Maps, and more.

A few of us plan to ride down to the downtown Farmers Market Saturday morning at 11:00 AM. The Farmers Market will take place at the corner of Third and Curry Streets…near the Firkin and Fox (wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more say no more…).
