Coming out of the Doldrums of Summer

Hooray! We’ve finally come out of last week’s doldrums. Scorching hot sun, with zero air movement was the norm last week, and the oppressive aestival heat made riding tough. Water bottles were as hot as tea water by the end of the lunch rides! Commutes home from work were done in shorts rather than work pants to avoid catching on fire at the stoplights.

Like a light switch, the weather has become cool an breezy. Today will be nearly 20 degrees different than any given day last week! It’s not quite Fall out there yet, but you can definitely feel summer slipping away.  Now if we could just get some rain!  Anyone know of any incantations to bring the precipitation?

This mornings temp was wonderful. Didn’t have to be to work until 9:00 this morning so I went for a morning ride. On the bike at 6:00 and back home at 8:00. A long sleeve t-shirt and the early morning cloud cover in the Canyon was perfect.

Other than the loss of daylight the 75 degree temps couldn’t get here fast enough.

The commute to work was almost chilly! Didn’t quite need a long sleeve shirt, but it was close. What a nice change.

If you do some how discover a magic dance routine or find fairy/pixy dust that causes moisture to form in the upper atmosphere and then fall with the help of gravity to the earth surface, causing plant life to live and grow, let me know, will ya?
    We need it too.
    Enjoy your cooler weather!

I can’t say for sure, but I think when 6dogs dug the water drains on the creek trail months ago, it angered the gods in some way. We may need an offering of some sort. A beer poured on the trail perhaps?

    Look at me, I’m a superstar! w00t!

Todays ride in was awesome, I only had 20 minutes to get there and I made it in 10 without breaking a sweat.

The Lunch Ride was spectacular, I love the change!

  6. 6dogs says:

Do you think it would appease the gods if I used recycled beer?
