West Side Bike Path
Oct 4th, 2007 by Jeff Moser
Some cyclists in Carson City may not be aware of the west side bike path. Although not very long, it is very useful for connecting Ash Canyon Road with Combs Canyon Road, and avoiding all the traffic and neighborhoods along Winnie Lane and Ormsby Blvd.
The path starts in the quiet Wellington Neighborhood, and ends behind Western Nevada Community College. On the south end of the path, you can connect to the bike lane that runs along Long View to Kings Canyon. On the north end of the bike path, you have access to Timberline (Vicee Canyon), Combs Canyon, and the V&T Rail Road Grade.
Another feature of the bike path is that it is the gateway to many fine mountain biking trails. There are many dirt roads and trails that leave the bike path, taking you up into the Ash Canyon and Vicee Canyon area. The area is pretty sandy in the summer months, so bring your wide tires when going off road!
